GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
- Removal of physical barriers: improving the accessibility of the Museum through architectural and the installation of specific furnishings and equipment.
- Removal of cognitive and sensory barriers: implement innovative digital technologies and new signage making the visit is engaging and memorable for everyone, including people with visual and hearing disabilities.
- Safety and emergency measures: rethink safety measures to guarantee an environment inclusive and attentive to the issue of accessibility, without compromising the protection of the artistic heritage.
- Objectives of the PNRR: within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, contribute to the implementation of the physical interventions envisaged in Italy in museums by Measure M1C3-3, in compliance with the principles of not causing significant damage to the environmental objectives and the contribution to the climate and digital objective.
INTERVENTIONS CARRIED OUT IN THE TREASURE MUSEUM OF SAN GENNARO
- Video guides in Italian Sign Language (LIS): allow deaf visitors to access information on works of art in complete autonomy.
- Audio descriptions: texts designed specifically to facilitate the visit for visually impaired and non-visually impaired people sighted.
- Multilingual audio guide: “A treasure of audio guides” enriched with 6 new languages ( Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Ukrainian, Russian and Portuguese,) in addition to those already available (Italian, English, French, Spanish, German and Neapolitan).
- Audio guide for children: a special narration that allows children to explore and learn the story of San Gennaro and one of the most precious treasures in the world.
- Inclusive website: optimization of the Museum’s website to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
- 3D reproductions: reproduction of the jeweled miter of San Gennaro in 1:1 scale .
- Touchstone tactile panels: for recognizing the shapes of the San Gennaro necklace and of the other gifts dedicated to the Patron Saint.
- Braille panels: with the description of the Museum rooms.
- Brochure in Black-Braille writing: explanatory for the Chapel and the Sacristies.
- Orientation maps: in ceramic to facilitate the visit inside the Museum .
- LETIsmart headlights: small sound devices designed to facilitate the journey inside the Museum.
- Museum staff: trained on welcoming visitors, as well as on the themes of accessibility and inclusion. Architectural interventions: iron handrail, stairlift to access the Museum and the toilets, benches along the route, slides to facilitate entry and benches ticket office remodeled for greater hospitality.
- Inclusive signage: adapted to accessibility and integrated into the emergency plan.< /span>

PERIOD OF PRODUCTION The interventions in the Treasure Museum of San Gennaro began in January 2022 and ended on 06/30/2023.
